Bill Gives Free Admission to State Parks for Widows and Widowers of Veterans

The State House of Representatives has passed a bill that allows widows and widowers of veterans to receive free or reduced priced hunting and fishing licenses and free admission to state parks and other facilities. Representative Frank Kloucek spoke in favor of the bill.
"The testimony was very clear," Kloucek says. "It affects less than 100 people. It's not a lot of dollars. There's clearly enough money in the Game Fish and Parks budget. But this is the very least we can do for our veterans and I do ask that you support it. The widowers and widows have sacrificed so much already and I would sure encourage your support of House Bill 1188."
Opponents say the state needs to draw the line somewhere. They say the state needs to continue to run parks, and can't keep allowing new groups of people to receive free admission. The House voted to pass the bill by a vote of 38 to 29.
