Health Insurance Exchange Prevention Bill
Air Date:02/15/2012
The Senate Health and Human Services committee killed an act that prevents health insurance exchange without legislative approval.
Senator Corey Brown of Gettysburg is an opponent of House Bill 1190. He says the legislation is so simple it's unnecessary.
"The constitution gives legislature the power to start to stop to suspend and to continue any programs that occur within the state. In essence House Bill 1190 is nothing more than a reiteration of the constitutional authority that the legislature already has," Brown said.
Proponents of the bill - like Dan Lederman of Dakota Dunes says the legislation will assist in healthcare reform. The committee voted the bill moved to the forty-first day by a majority vote.
