Public Lands Access
Air Date:02/21/2012
The House Local Government committee passed a bill that changes certain provisions to remove or change locations of county and township highways on school and public lands.
Jarrod Johnson is the commissioner of school and public lands. He says the bill gives access to work on affected properties
"We will spray parcels of property across the state for weed and pests and time to time we have an issue on getting access on those acres and so we looked at our statutes and we'll gosh how exactly do we proceed and what's our policy when we do so and what we discovered is that back in 1989 as far as we can tell the language before carved out school and public lands well we thought it made sense to put it back in," Johnson said.
No one spoke against the measure. Senate Bill twenty-two now heads to the house floor.
