Ray Tysdal’s black and white wildlife photographs are shown widely in South Dakota, distinctive not only because they’re not in color but also because he takes the images out of the context of nature and isolates them on fields of solid black and white. Now Tysdal has taken his art a step further. For today’s Dakota Digest, SDPB’s Victoria Wicks speaks with the photographer about the new direction his art is taking.
