The Score for WILD HORSES
The original score for WILD HORSES was composed by Tom Larson, a teacher at the University of Nebraska and owner of his own production company, Tom Larson Music Inc.
Larson attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston Mass., where he received a bachelors degree in music in the field of composition, and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he received a masters in music specializing in composition. From 1984 to 1998, he was co-owner of Studio Q Recording in Lincoln, primarily writing music for documentary and independent films, industrial video programs, radio and TV commercials, and producing albums for area artists. Now, he writes and produces music with his new production company, Tom Larson Music Inc.
Larson is currently on the faculty of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln School of Music as an instructor of music history and jazz piano. He has studied jazz piano privately with Dean Earle, Fred Hersch, Kenny Werner and Bruce Barth.
Larsons musical writing credits include a number of programs that have been broadcast nationally: "In the White Man's Image" and "Around the World in 72 Days," both for WGBH-TV Boston's series "The American Experience"; "In Search of the Oregon Trail"; "Seeking the Real Jesse James"; "Strong Medicine"; "Tom Osborne, More Than Winning"; "Ashes to Dust"; and "Last of the One Room Schools."
Larson has performed with stars including: Paul Shaffer, Bo Diddley, Red Skelton, Rodney Dangerfield, Gloria Loring, the Nebraska Jazz Orchestra, the Omaha Symphony, the Nebraska Chamber Orchestra and the UNL Jazz Quintet.
