Episode 201: Custer State Park
Terri and Todd explore Custer State Park in the Black Hills of South Dakota. On their journey, they see many hoofed animals such as bison, elk, big horn sheep, and pronghorn antelope. They also discover a yellow bellied marmot and a bushy tailed wood rat. See what happens when Todd gets too close to the bison!
Episode 202: Unique Birds of the Prairie
Todd and Terri explore the Great Plains in search of unique bird species. They show you that not all birds live in nests, as they get up close to burrowing owls near the Badlands of South Dakota. Plus they examine red tailed hawks and long billed curlews. Terri finds a pale milk snake, which is potential prey for birds.
Episode 203: The Rattlesnake That Doesn’t Rattle
Terri and Todd discover a prairie rattlesnake on the road, and as they attempt to move it off, they discover it has some unique behaviors. Terri and Todd meet up with Herpetologist Terry Phillip to study striking patterns of other snakes such as the cobra, saw scale viper, and the western diamondback rattlesnake. They also meet a cute albino porcupine!
Episode 204: Exploring Unusual Destinations
Todd and Terri visit some diverse landscapes in western South Dakota including Bear Butte, the Slim Buttes and a unique canyon near Silver City. Along the way, they discover a wandering garter snake that has unusual behaviors, and something else they didn't expect to find in that area...big horn sheep.
Episode 205: Dino Dig!
Terri and Todd revisit a Triceratops dig site in North Dakota to check on the progress made over the last year. While there, Terri visits with Lou Tremblay and learns how to dig for dinosaur bones. Back at the lab Tyler Lyson shows Todd dinosaur bones and fossils discovered on previous digs. While at the site, Terri and Todd discover a dinosaur-like short horned lizard!
Episode 206: In Your Backyard
Todd and Terri take a look at some commonly seen animals of the Midwest, such as mule deer, western painted turtles, raccoons, and a baby fox snake. But what they teach you about these common creatures may be things you didn't realize.
Episode 207: Exploring the Missouri River
Terri and Todd go to the Oahe Dam region near Pierre, South Dakota where they are lucky enough to encounter a rare false map turtle. They also find a very grumpy bull snake on the shore of the river. Terri and Todd also teach us about the yucca plant and its amazing inhabitant, the yucca moth.
Episode 208: Weird and Wild Creatures
Todd and Terri look at some of the more unusual creatures of the Midwest, including wind scorpions, dung beetles, and a woodhouse toad. Todd gets Terri to wrestle an American alligator. Gary Mule Deer, Bruce Williams, and Terry Ree make a surprise cameo appearance.
Episode 209: Wild Animal or Pet?
Terri and Todd question whether wild animals should be kept as pets. They talk with Terry Phillip about keeping dangerous snakes at pets, and visit a successful ranch where several white buffalo have been born to the herd. Terri and Todd also rescue abandoned kittens from a ditch.
Episode 210: Exploring Ponds and Rivers
Todd and Terri search the waters of the Midwest in search of beavers, softshell turtles, and tiger salamanders. They also discover freshwater shrimp in North Dakota, and search for American bullfrogs in the Cheyenne River near Hot Springs, SD.
Episode 211: Creepy Crawlers of the Buttes
Terri and Todd explore the buttes of Harding County, SD in search of the northern scorpion and the short horned lizard. While there, Todd tries to help out a disoriented brown bat. They also run across a photogenic prairie rattlesnake and a large bull snake, which also seems to love the camera.
Episode 212: Making a Comeback
Terri and Todd travel to the Lower Brule South Dakota area and search for one of the most endangered land mammals in North America, the black footed ferret.
