SDPB to Examine South Dakota's

Connection to the Kansas City Massacre

SDPB Radio featured the fascinating life of South Dakotan Verne Miller in a new one-hour documentary, Wayward Soldier: Verne Miller and the Kansas City Massacre.

The SDPB Radio documentary premiered on Tuesday, June 17, at Noon CT/ 11 a.m. MT, marking the 70th anniversary of the Kansas City Massacre.

A resident of the Huron area, Miller didn't always have a shady past. He was regarded as a war hero and even became the Beadle County Sheriff. But somewhere, his good intentions went south as he became a bank robber, a hit man and a bootlegger.

In addition to being heard on SDPB Radio, Wayward Soldier: Verne Miller and the Kansas City Massacre will be distributed throughout the country to other public radio stations.
